great grandpa and audrey

We go spend Thursday mornings with my grandpa. Sometimes we venture out and ‘do’ something, but the last couple times we stayed at his house and played with the toys stored there.  At one of our visits a few weeks ago, Audrey almost immediately climbed into my grandpa’s lap, hugged him and stroked his cheeks looking closely at his face. He reciprocated the soft touches on her face and told her he loved her. It moved me to tears because I know how many people are asking my grandpa how he’s doing, if he’s okay, what can they do to help….etc.  And Audrey just climbed right up on his lap and gave him love. Simple as that, no questions asked. Sometimes it’s important to take the lead from the little people in our lives. So, today I just bear hugged my grandpa, no questions asked.

In return, he told me I’m his prettiest granddaughter.

Lil’ Baby A

untitled shoot-334

Remember my goregous friend Suzanna that was beautifully pregnant this summer and let me snap some pictures? Well, Baby Amelia was born and we were able to go and give her some newborn snuggles a couple weeks ago. I knew that my girls would be excited to be around such a small, new baby, but Maggie really shocked me at how interested and sweet she was. Mags sat and held Amelia for nearly an hour, her arm probably getting numb, and just stared at her face. It was so touching, I’ve always known Maggie to have a Mama Heart, but she really showed me how deep her caring ways are with how sweet she was with that little baby. Audrey was also very, very interested in Amelia, but more in a rough and tumble, huge hug and kiss type of way. She also has a Mama Heart, but right now it’s a bit more wild and free-wheelin.

I’ve always loved the Wilbur family and have had a close relationship with them, our history spans over a long period of time. They’re close family friends and so I was delighted that I also got to see Tim and Peggy, Suzanna’s brother and mom.  They’re a family that I don’t see often enough, but when I do, I’m reminded of how sweet, kind and salt-of-the-earth people they are. Genuinely interested in me, Barry, our girls and how we’re all doing.

It’s already been a couple weeks since we stopped by for a visit, I have no doubt that Ameila has already changed so much….I’m feeling another little snuggle session coming on sooner rather than later.
