Larson Family

I had an opportunity to take pictures of my friend Suzanna and her family recently. Practically the very first picture we took of Suzanna that evening was perfect. She’s incredibly beautiful and photogenic and it made shooting her a breeze. After we took some pictures around my mom and dad’s house, her husband and boys came out for some family shots. I was pleased with how they turned out. I finally feel confident playing with the sun and it feels soooo good. Suzanna is stunning and her family is clearly excited for their newest bundle of joy coming soon! Business as Usual: ABM at 18 Months

audrey 18 months

We’ve got a new nickname for Audrey these days: Danger Cat. It is so appropriate because she is so interested in trying new things, climbing to the highest height and experiencing the world in a wild, wonderful way. I’ve started a list a number of times of all the words she can say – because she is adding new words to her vocabulary each day, but some way or another the list gets set aside or recycled. Her new favorite word has been “Izak” these past few days because my brother is working at our house and Miss Danger Cat has been watching him make messes with the dump truck. When he sat next to her at dinner tonight, she kept poking him with her finger, just delighted that he was within arm’s reach.

Because I tend to mark passages in time by looking back to where we’ve been, I find it hard to believe that a year ago Audrey was still a chubby little baby not yet tripoding around or even walking. These days she tries hard to keep up with Maggie – and actually challenges Maggie to climb higher, go down more slides, etc. when we’re out and about.

While we were in Anacortes last week, I unintentionally weaned her. We were both more than ready and it helped that Grammy and Grampy were able to get her down at night a few times while I was taking pictures. I’m not sad about it in the way that I thought I’d be. She was ready and I was too, that makes it much easier and less of an ending.

Yes, I missed a few months on the rocking chair pictures, but I was too busy protecting Danger Cat to get to it…ha!!

Size 4 diapes, 4 and 5 shoes, and 12-18 or 18mo clothes.

She still loves hats, shoes and any accessories. Also, I’m pretty sure she’s going to be the one to do rides with me at any carnival becuase we can’t toss her high enough, spin fast enough or give her enough wiggles. A favorite game with Maggie is to cannon ball into a pile of pillows or dive around on a pillow filled bed. She waters the plants, hugs Sydney, takes her dirty clothes to the washer, dirty dishes to the kitchen….and leaves a trail of where she’s been all other times.

We love our Danger Cat….18 months has flown.

Quiet Moments

audrey and maggie

Every so often I’ll notice that the house has gone quiet and I’ll wonder what my kids are up to. The other day I came upon this sweet scene and was able to grab my camera and snap a quick picture. One of the biggest challenges I find in being home with my children, at least while they are  young, is getting things done around the house and still being present to play with them or observe moments like this. Laundry is always needing to be done, food prep or clean up, and just general day-to-day chores.

It should be noted, as I type this that Maggie has put on her tap shoes and is tap dancing to some loud music blasting from her toy. Audrey is ‘hiding’ in the closet next to Maggie and yelling for us to find her. It’s opposite of the serene picture with this post.

And I’m pretty sure there’s now a poopy diaper to change….
