Rain Riding

Riding to work today seemed like a great way to squeeze a little exercise into the day, and it is. Although I’m not too excited about the upcoming ride home. I think I’m going to be getting pretty wet. To illustrate my point, I’ve included a shot of the street from my office window not to show off the view (it is pretty nice if you’re into construction sites), but to highlight several of the pedestrians using umbrellas. Wimps! Ha ha, who needs to stay dry any way?

Lake 22 Hike

Bahl and I hit up the Lake 22 trail Saturday morning. We tried out the trail last spring, but ended up having to turn around because of snow in the trail. Neither of us travel with snow showing gear, so we felt like we needed to come back when the trail would be clear. It turns out that Saturday was the day for us to conquer the trail, and we were successful. Actually, we unknowingly made it pretty close to the top on our first attempt. We both enjoyed the trip and decided to give it 3 out of 4 2B Hiking shoes (2B = Bahl and Barry).

The loop around Lake 22 was my favorite part. Rumor has it that the lake is stocked with fish each year, and we actually saw someone with a fish on.

Walk it Out

This** will come as no surprise: we love our dog. We love her so much that we get up before anyone else in Edmonds has even popped out of their R.E.M. cycle to walk our precious pup. We come home from work, and take her on another walk. We even play frisbee and tiger with her daily. No matter how much we love our dog or blog about her, she still hates her harness.

As you might recall, our dog isn’t exactly slender. She’s got a fat neck. Since she’s got an extra neck roll, it is a must that she wear a harness out the door. Sydney fears and doesn’t like hates the harness. She will often hide and silently wait us out if she’s lucky. Today I couldn’t find her after I kindly invited her on a walk. After checking her usual spots, I found her hunkered down in her crate.  Even after I unzipped the top of it she continued to appear fearful of getting the harness on.

We’ve tried everything from treats to hiding her harness until the last moment. Barry even read the Dog Whisperer book. Nonetheless, our dog still hates abhors the harness. Currently, as I wait her out she’s camped out under the guest bed.

Do you have a dog that is too busy cleaning the house to go on a walk?

UPDATE: Just as I was sitting down to a fresh cup of tea you know who decided to leave her cave under the bed and join me. Luckily, Barry got home so we can both trick her together. Yippee!!

Actually, she was excited to see Barry until he mentioned the word “walk” before he knew about the current situation.  Apparently, he didn’t see the Amber Alert above the garage when he pulled in.  She’s now hiding behind the couch in full woe-is-me moping mode.

**Enough with the dog posts! I know, I know.
