Driveway Photos from 2014

Many years ago my dad suggested to us that maybe we should turn our front yard into a driveway and then he sketched out a picture of what he thought it’d look like and about how much it’d cost. We kept that picture on our fridge for a long time, not ever pulling the trigger on getting the work done. As with most things that my dad (or mom) suggest to us around our house, when we finally converted our front yard into a paved driveway, we loved it.

Too bad we waited so long to do it and too bad that when my dad and Izak came to work on it, Washington decided to have some record-breaking heat. We went through plenty of popsicles the days they were here….the girls were very helpful, too.

Christmas Eve & Christmas Day Morning at HBHQ

For the first time, maybe since we’ve owned our home, we stayed home Christmas Eve and woke on Christmas morning to a visit from Santa. The tone of Christmas this year felt much more relaxed and having this time together was really sweet and exciting. Maggie is at the perfect age for everything Santa and got right to work on putting together a Lego toy from opening gifts the night before. Audrey really, really loves New Baby lately and Santa brought a small wooden cradle and she spent quite a bit of time being a Little Mama by herself. Barry and I drank like 4 pots of coffee.

Earlier in the day, on Christmas Eve, we went on a walk at Richmond Beach and then had an early and quiet dinner at home before exchanging gifts between the four of us. The following pictures loaded backwards, I don’t care enough to fix it. If you’re a chronological person….start from the bottom.

Maggie’s Room

We switched things up in Maggie’s room unexpectedly the other night and she was so happy with the results she was bouncing off the walls, literally, with excitement. A reminder that changing things up, without actually buying anything, can feel exciting. I love her room, it’s such a good, bright representation of who she is. It’s full of color, art, and handmade gifts from people in her life who really know and love her. I should have taken more pictures of the details….
