A Few Things

1.

Last week Thomas and Will came over to play and Will got Maggie back for all the eye poking she did to him at his house.
I kind of wonder if she secretly was just trying to get him to give her a scalp massage. Those feel pretty good, you know.

Anyhow, Will was pretty interested in Maggie and her hair. Lara kind of warned Thomas that Will was playing with his buddy, Maggie, but he didn’t seem to mind. At least until she crawled away.

2.

My parents are coming to visit today….yahoooey! Well, I think my mom is more coming to do some serious smooching on Maggie, which is fine by me.  My dad started calling Maggie “Curly” because her hair gets out of control sometimes with the curl situation. I’m sure they’ll have a long conversation about something important because they tend to have a lot to talk about.

3.

My favorite lens broke. I am a sad, sad kitten. Thankfully Canon is going to fix it for me, but that’ll take a while and I already really, really miss it. I didn’t know how much I loved it until it broke. Boooooo, hiss, on bad photos and having to use my other equipment.

Old Friends, New Friends & Family

OLD FRIENDS:

Last Friday we had a chance to spend a few hours with Kara, sipping on tea and catching up on everything and nothing. I don’t get to see Kara as often as I’d like, but when I do see her and we really get to catch up I’m always so appreciative of our friendship. It is amazing to me that I’ve known her nearly our whole lives. I met her days after she was born and I was just a few months old. Yeow! I should do a blog post on her Maid of Honor toast at our wedding, it was so full of memories and humor. Also, Kara called Maggie a big, old, pile of cute during the visit and I think that fits The Mags perfectly, don’t you?

NEW FRIENDS:

Gracie and her parents, Tye and Kerry, came to visit so Gracie and Mags could have a little play date.  Barry and Tye have been friends for decades, so this doesn’t really count as new friends, but Maggie and Gracie are newbies, so there!

Maggie was a total firecracker and kept wanting to poke Gracie’s face and chew on her. I’m not sure that is any different from any other time we’re around other kids, but Maggie seemed extra wound up. Gracie handled it like a champ, especially with Sydney trying to chew her bone on her as well. Jeesh.

P.S. Maggie and Gracie have totally opposite hair.

FAMILY:

Maggie and I went to meet up with 3G to talk about a recipe project I’m working on for her and ended up down at Sue’s house with Chach, Skrange and Grandpa. While 3G and I looked over recipes Maggie hung out with Chach and Sue, eventually they made it over to the piano and Mags got to tickle the ivories. It was so fitting. Sue was singing along and Maggie jabbered along with her. I can almost always count on Sue to sing Maggie a song or two when we’re around and I often get it stuck in my head and so Mags gets to hear it more later and if she is really lucky, I end up getting it stuck in Barry’s head too. The gift of music keeps on giving….la, la, la, laaaaa!!!!

Welcome, February!

Thomas and Lara came to HBHQ today so we could all head down to Seattle and attempt to run around Green Lake. We successfully completed a lap around the lake with no blood, a bit of sweat, and zero tears. Wahoo!! It was a fantastically beautiful day today and the lake was a bit crowded with every other Seattleite wanting to soak up the sun.

After our run (by the way, I’m using the term ‘run’ super loosely here because it was more of a jog, really) we went to U. Village to walk around and grab a bite to eat. Aside from Thomas needing to borrow a pair of Maggie’s leggings, the babes did great. We got to eat sushi (yummy, yummy in my tummy) and zip in and out of all the fun stores.

Sometimes I wish I was better at toting my camera around, but at this point I’m still carrying Maggie 99% of the time and it just feels like a bit lunky to haul around. I find myself wishing I could document more. I did happen to catch a couple pictures of Mags and Thom when they arrived at HBHQ. Maggie has a tendency to maul Thomas and he has a tendency to get upset about it. We’re working on them being happy together and accepting their differences.
