Dance Party @ hBhQ

We had a major dance party here at HBHQ last night. Have you heard Adele’s Rolling in the Deep song?

Well, I love it.

It just makes me want to bust a move and so tonight we cranked it up and did just that. I pranced around with Sydney in my arms and Barry carried Maggie in his Captain’s Chair. Maggie got quite a kick out of Sydney’s floating head and was cracking up during the whole song.

In other news I’ve unearthed some old pictures of Maggie that I’m drooling over, simply because they are super beautiful and also because I had forgotten I even took them. I’ve determined that she is growing up at warp speed and I have to suppress the urge to document every moment with my camera.

BUT

I sure do love that I’ve got a ton of photos of these past 10 months and I have no plans to put my camera down anytime soon; however, I suppose I could practice ‘forgetting’ it a time or two, just for the sake of living truly in the moment. I’ll work on that. Maybe.

Anyhow, our house has been full of dance parties and babies that like to wake up through out the night. It is also full of bedrooms that are blue, kitchens that are green and everything else in between.

Go get your dance on today, you’ll feel better.

P.S. When I was trying to buy a song by the artist Pink, I accidently bought Aerosmith’s song “Pink,” turns out you can dance your toosh off to that song too.

What a Difference a Year Can Make

I know, enough with the pregnant pictures, right? It’s just that last year over my birthday weekend I mostly remember taking a zillion baths in the tub at the house we rented and watching horrible TV because there was a TV in the bathroom next to the foot of the tub. I became very familiar with the Kardashians last year on my birthday.

This year we’re headed to Leavenworth and staying in a place that has no TV, so I most likely won’t be catching up on all things horrible in TV Land; however, the place does have a tub and I plan to again take some toasty baths and revive my birthday tradition of taking a long bath and wearing a cushy robe. We’re also going to get outside in some freezing weather and drink tons tea and hot chocolate.

Yahoo for birthdays!!

Also, two more things:

1. Sydney fell out of bed last night. SERIOUSLY FELL out of bed while sleeping. Once while Syd was staying at my parent’s house my dad wanted to tie some twine to her because they have a high bed. I’m starting to think that might be a brilliant idea. She’s okay, but it was startling.

2. This morning Maggie went in for some major, major pets on Syd’s chubby rolls and Barry had to stop the aggressive pinching. He also refererd to Sydney as THE BIG QUEEN. I think that is an awesome nickname that should stick around. Sydney: The Big Queen.

I’m off to spend some birthday lovin’ with my little tribe.

Hip, hip, hooray!!!

A Little Bit of Love

Yesterday Barry encouraged me to head out of the house for a few hours and spend some time on my own and so I did.

It was strange.

It was odd.

I turned the heat up in the car and pumped up the music, but it just felt weird.

I found myself heading to Anthropologie but got lost along the way and pulled over to call Barry to check in.

I missed my family and I’d been gone for less than an hour.

Can you say  w-i-m-p-y?

Maggie got up early yesterday morning and we all went on a long walk around the neighborhood and so it wasn’t as if I was really missing out on any sense of togetherness. When I called to check in I could hear Maggie babbling in the background and Barry had already started doing some projects that we’d talked about around the house. He informed me that Maggie had to take a break from all the task-mastering and was having a snack.

After I hung up I marveled at how grown up our little family felt in the short conversation. Maggie taking a snack, Barry completing projects and me off spending a few minutes alone. Oh, and Syd probably snoring in some corner of the house.

Weird.

Today is Valentine’s Day and a day for love. Mostly  at our house we try to do things for each other all year long, but today is a bit more special. After getting out of the house for a couple hours yesterday, I was more than happy to end up back home with my Man, slobbery-kissy daughter and silly dog.

Of course they are my Valentines today and I wouldn’t change a thing.
