Somebody {Maggie} discovered a pair of goggles and couldn’t be bothered to take them off this morning as she cruised around the house with her jammies on. (Tid-bit about the jammies: My mom gave them to Maggie and we put them on without realizing that they glow in the dark, the skeleton part at least, until bed time. Barry went to check on her later in the night and came back to report that ‘our daughter was aglow”. )
While running up and down the hallway yelling about goggles and towels she remembered her new Don’t Break the Ice game and proceeded to ask/demand that we play. Of course I couldn’t say no to a goggle wearing morsel. We’re working on taking turns. It seems that Maggie full-well understands what taking turns means; however, she really, really loves having her turn over and over again. Don’t we all?

This weekend while I was taking baby pictures and sipping on lemonade at Molly’s shower, Barry and Maggie had a special date of sorts. By the later afternoon we met up at my parents house so Barry and I could go to Erin and Karl’s St. Patrick’s Day party later that night. I had left Maggie and Barry early in the morning and really was excited to see them by the time I pulled in to my parent’s driveway. I was also anticipating that they’d feel the same way and had envisioned a reunion of hugs and kisses.
Um. Didn’t happen.
Nobody else was home and both Maggie and Barry were settled into their chairs totally engrossed in books and magazines. After I had a split second moment to mourn my reunion that obviously wasn’t going to happen, I happily became a fly on the wall. Maggie is becoming more and more entranced with books these days. I find her in her teepee reading to herself aloud and she is often lugging books from one area to another. My mom had a gigantic basket of books sitting out and Barry informed me that Maggie, after checking to see if anyone was home, dove right in. Since I’m a self-proclaimed book snob, I’m pretty proud.
But it should also be noted that I’m equally proud that my daughter likes to wear goggles with her jammies and play Don’t Break the Ice at the same time. What I’m trying to say is this: I’m pretty partial to Little Miss Mags. How could I not be?
