Brush, Brush, Brush

I brush my teeth many times throughout my day and we’ve started to get Maggie busy brushing hers. Part of our morning routine involves Maggie sitting on the bathroom counter while we get ready.

We have conversations about what our plans for the day are and what we might have dreamed about. She usually gets to watch Barry shave and they have their own private conversation about father-daughter things

Based on the crazy, crazy bed-head that Maggie has been waking up with, we’re not too far off from having to brush her hair too.  Sadly, the bed-head is not pictured in this post. I’m saving that for another rainy day.

Brush, brush, brush!!!

Does This Make Me Crafty?

Never have I thought of myself as crafty, but yesterday it occurred to me that perhaps I’ve got a little craft in me! I lined the back of a shelf in Maggie’s room with wrapping paper and Mod Podge. I didn’t document it from start to finish because I wasn’t going to share with all 9 of our blog readers, but I’m pleased with the end result. Lucky you, right?

Barry ended up taking a few pictures ~ we’re working with him to learn how to focus manually….be patient with the man! We got the shelf free last year from my aunt (thanks, Sue!) and it has floated around between our guest room and Maggie’s room. I’m not a huge fan of things that are just plain, old white. If I had my way, everything would be beautiful, solid wood or enhanced with color.

Every time I’ve looked at this shelf it has bothered me, but I’ve never pulled the trigger on sprucing it up. The shelf is inside Maggie’s closet and NOBODY looks twice at it, but when I’m feeding Maggie and the closet is left open, which happens often, I’m stuck looking at this shelf. So, after pulling the backs off, mod podging (is that a word?) the wrapping paper on, and putting the backs on, I had myself something that I actually like to look at.

Just today as I sat down to nurse, I looked over at the left-open closet and new-fangled shelf and found myself pleased. Granted, it’s just a little bit of color, and it’s just wrapping paper….but, dang, it’s the little things that make me happy these days.

On Sharing Food and Such

Sydney typically leads a very charmed life. It is full of naps, walks, slumber parties at Camp Janet, snacks, games and tons of pets. She is a very loved dog.  Her feelings towards Maggie are slowly evolving into ones of love and understanding, I just know it.

The other day I mentioned that Maggie’s favorite hangout is under the table – standing and screeching. Well, today I think she discovered yet another place to pass some time.

Syd’s food and water dish area is the newest, coolest place for 8 month old babies to hang out. I have a feeling that when any of Maggie’s friends come over she’ll show them the ropes.

These shots are a bit blurry because I was laughing so hard.

Turns out that I’m the parent that likes to photograph their kid making a mess – but I could see where it was headed and just decided to let it happen. Plus this was happening about two feet away:

Poor Sydney. I think that she looks just pitiful. I also think that she’s secretly thankful that Maggie has yet to discover her snack stash.

After the water dish got spilled, Maggie was in hog-heaven….or was it pug-heaven. I’m not sure.

The funniest part of this all? Right after I changed Maggie out of her soggy clothes, she was right back at Syd’s eating station.

I’m starting to wonder if Sydney is going to call in some reinforcements if Maggie continues to mess with the whole food set up.  Either that or she’ll need to take a long vacation at Camp Janet to release some of the stress this has caused.
