Dresses & Daffodils

When I drove into the driveway at my parent’s house earlier this week the first thing that I noticed was all the yellow splashes around the property. Daffodils were popping up in every little nook and cranny and they looked so cheerful and bright – in contrast to the dreary rain.

We have a basket of socks sitting in Maggie’s closet, but I can hardly get the girl to keep her shoes on sometimes, so it seemed fitting that when we set her down on the cold, soft ground she didn’t miss a beat and started playing with the rain drops on the yellow baby daffodils. The girl loves to be in the garden and around the fresh dirt, much like my mom.

On this trip up, more than any other time, Maggie feel in love with my mom. They spent time together going up and down the stairs, reading, eating and I totally played second fiddle. Maggie even filed a couple complaints with my mom, which so far she seems to only do with Barry and me.

I also happened to bring up some old skirts of mine that I no longer wear and my mom, one of the most industrious women that I know, turned part of one into a dress for Maggie. Not only that, but she made a few other skirts and the top that Mags is sportin’ in these photos. If I were the one doing the sewing, I might feel like I’m bragging, but instead I’m bragging about my mom and her sewing machine.

How could I not brag when cute, cute, cute things like this dress are getting created?  Now I sound like a total snooty-pants. Oh, well. Some days are like that, I guess.

Be Kind, Rewind

Time really does fly when you’re having fun. We’ve had a chance to meet up with tons of  Maggie’s buds lately and have hardly documented it. This post is all over the place with an attempt to play catch-up. Two points to  you if you can make it to the end!!

ELIANNA

Waayyyy back when Maggie was not even 11 months old yet we got a chance to go meet baby Elianna, who belongs to Adam and Alyssa. She was the sweetest little cherub and Maggie only tried to pinch her three times. It was St. Patrick’s Day afterall.

Both Barry and I remarked who quickly we had forgotten what it was like to have a true BABY and that it seems SO long ago that we were living in a two-hour window of wakings and feedings. It was really sweet to see Adam and Alyssa and their precious bundle. We look forward to many, many more playdates with them! Yahooey!

THOMAS, CAROLINE & MAGS TOGETHER AGAIN

Thomas and Caroline are coming over today and I haven’t even been able to share a photo from the last time we all got together. Caroline is growing like a little weed (a very beautiful weed, but weeds grow fast around here) and Thomas seemed all grown up in his plaid sweater. It was the first time that we’ve had to really block the stairs from Thomas and Mags, but of course Thomas wedged himself through the opening and Maggie followed quickly behind. All bets off once Caroline starts crawling.

DAXTEN &  CARTER!!!

A couple days ago we also got to go visit Suzanna, her parents and adorable boys, Daxten and Carter. We got to meet Daxten on the day that he was born, but haven’t had a chance to see him again since that day. Ironically, that was the last day I got my hair cut and the second time I got to see him I again cut my hair. Guess I’ll need to schedule to see him when I’m going to sculpt my do. Maggie decided that she wanted to test out Daxten’s pacifier even though she has NEVER taken one from us. Stinker.

SUNSHINE & RAIN

The weather here has been playing tricks on us with tons of rain,  but last week a sparkle of sun. We busted outside quickly to soak up the rays, only to notice the huge cloud cover moving on in. Today is gloomy again, but we just know that sunny days are right around the corner ~ I can hardly wait. Thom and Caro are nearly at our door step, so I’ll have to do another re-cap some other day. I’ll leave you with a soggy flower shot.
