A number of months ago (April, maybe?) Maggie had school pictures taken and they offered the option for any siblings to also get their picture taken. We decided to have the girls take a picture together and were pleased with the posed results. I don’t have digital copies of the ones of just Maggie, but those are remarkably cute as well. The girls look all safe and happy, but they were really perched up on a dangerous table with a cement ground below them, so my mama heart was pretty nervous about Audrey up there, hence Maggie’s protective hand on her leg.
Maggie Turns Four: Part Two
Our girls are lucky enough to have a very, very large circle of people that care very deeply for them. Many of these people live within driving distance of us and we get to see them frequently (or maybe some might say not enough?) and for that we’re blessed. When it came time to plan Maggie’s family birthday celebration, and realizing that it fell on Easter, I felt the need to make sure that we had a sit-down meal all together.
I have many great memories from my childhood of both sets of grandparents, and extended family, celebrating Mother’s Day together, and it’s nice that we can give that same sense of family-connectedness to my girls as well. Many of our very favorite people came and helped to celebrate our girl on her birthday. My friend Nicole graciously provided salmon that her husband caught just a few days before, the local bakery made Maggie’s cake, and most everybody else filled in between. I joked that I out-sourced everything, and I’m well aware that everybody helped, provided and made the day especially special.
I’ve got one more batch of pictures from this day to share….they’re too sweet not to be their own post.
Posing Sisters
One of the things that I’ve found to be a bit surprising is how much I like it when my girls are semi-matching. It doesn’t happen too often and and I don’t really seek it out on purpose, but when the stars align, I don’t not make it happen. I had bought Audrey her ‘birthday’ dress a number of months before her first birthday at a consignment shop and paid a bit more than I typically would. She wore it in her first year picture and then some. Well, I happened to come across the same dress in Maggie’s size a few months later and picked it up for her. Well, we discovered that Maggie was very excited about having a ‘twin dress’ to wear with her sister. Here are some pictures from a couple months ago in our backyard….
