3G and The Holding Chart

Last week while my grandpa and I were in my bathroom rescuing the shower from a drywall nightmare, 3G got in some holding time. I think she was relived because so many other people had gotten in some good holding time recently.  Sue and Chaya stopped by last week along with my friends Rayna and T.

When we told my grandparents that I was pregnant my grandma said that she’d have to start making the Holding Chart and that she might let some other people on it. Her comment was overshadowed by my grandpa’s comment that he was ‘worried we didn’t know how to do that’ and was glad for us.

Well,  3G and Grandpa came to visit Maggie in the hospital and my grandma came prancing in, or maybe she was floating out of sheer pride, waving above her head The Holding Chart. She quickly exchanged The Holding Chart for the sweet bundle of joy in my arms and I opened it to check it out.

I’ve never claimed to have strong Math skills, but I’m nearly certain that 3G has a lot more smiley faces and Holding Time than anyone else on the chart. After the bathroom-drywall extravaganza last week, I think she put in her fair share and her face was way more smiley than any of those on the Holding Chart.

Thursday

Yesterday I found myself listening to talk radio and attempting to re-caulk our bathtub.

It didn’t go as planned and now we have no shower.

We are now missing a chunk of drywall.

I called my grandpa to come and rescue me from this construction project/problem. He loves house repairs…or at least he acts like he does.

I hope we have a shower soon.

Look Again

Have you ever read something and either connected with it so much it felt like you wrote it or wondered if the person that did write it knew what you were thinking or feeling? I had a grand plan to start a week long series of posts about our weekend. From start to finish it was filled with family and it was fantastic.

Before I started to prep my posts, after looking through my pictures documenting our families, I headed over to CJane’s blog to read her post today because I really enjoy her writing. What I discovered was quick snippets of her thoughts on her post-partum body and expanding family. It was as if she could hear my insecurities  and thoughts while I looked at my rounded cheeks and chubby arms caught digitally over the weekend.

So, I am abandoning my Family Filled posts until tomorrow because after reading CJane’s post I want to go back and look at the pictures taken of me over the weekend and remind myself that my body is the way it is today because I made Maggie.  I MADE her. Althougth the softness that is my body won’t necessarily all go away, I’m thankful for the reminder that this version of my body is because of Maggie.
