Maggie,
Two months today! You seem like such a big girl already – holding your head up, looking around and cooing at things you love. This past month your legs have grown to be strong and chubby, I can only imagine what they will feel like in the coming weeks. Soft, squishy and perfect!
You are a growing girl fitting in to most things 3-6 month size and still feel long. Your hair has been coming in and it is red and possibly curly. After you get out of the bath we rub a dry towel on it and it goes crazy! Sometimes you wake up with bed head, which at this point can be fixed by a few quick finger motions.
Your two favorite places to be – besides eating – are the changing table and the bouncing ball (while being held). We joke that you like to ‘crank it up’ when your dad gets home from work. For a couple weeks you were crying, crying, crying for a few hours each evening and wanted to be held and walked around. I’m not sure if you’ve decided to move out of that phase yet, but I’m hoping so.
I think you are thisclose to wanting to laugh and giggle. Your dad and I sure do act goofy trying to get you to smile and laugh. He has taken to talking to you with an accent, which makes you stare at him like he’s crazy! You and your dad have been taking long walks in the morning while I sleep a bit more. With the exception of the last three nights you had been getting up at all hours to eat.
Yesterday, after sleeping for almost 6 hours, you were up and ready to start your day at 4 AM. After feeding you, we took you and Sydney on a long winding walk down to Edmonds and back. I loved watching the town wake up and seeing you ride on your dad the whole time listening to our conversation. Our little family was nearly all alone, but we did see a family of raccoons.
This past month we went to visit both sets of grandparents – they just can’t get enough of you! You’ve spent time in the arms of so many special people that care about you. Aunt Geneviève gave you my favorite nickname yet (you already have a million): Magie [Mah-jee], which means magic in French. It is WAY better than Uncle Phil’s nickname, Makarana.
You have a love hate relationship with your carseat – mostly hating it. I think you know it isn’t the real deal because you LOVE to be held. I’m fine with that, I’m getting better at living my life with one hand available to do things. Sydney still ignores you, but has seemed to become more aware of your cries. Sparky, on the other hand, is trying hard to make his way onto the babysitting list. He loves to lick you and stay close to who ever is holding you…kind of like me!
You continue to bring us so much happiness.
You are so loved,
Mom
