Before we went to Australia I bought an iPod and at that time having an iPod was fancy, I felt like I was ahead of some of my tech friends. I was going through a huge Johnny Cash, Dixie Chicks, Susan Tedeschi and Dave Matthews phase and so I filled my Pod with their tunes. I also piled on all the music that I downloaded illegally in college from Napster.
On our trip we had would crank it up while we drove along the coastline and shared the earbuds when sitting next to one another on trains and boats. All these years later the iPod is still alive and kicking and hasn’t really been updated too much, mostly because it was full and we’ve since acquired newer generations of the iPod.
Now that we’ve got a baby who really enjoys music, she is becoming very familiar with the melodies that carried us on our travels and through these past five years. We’ve got another iPod that has children’s music on it, but I really like that Maggie is learning to, at times, fall asleep to some of my favorites just as I did with my parent’s music.
