One Month

Maggie,

You are one month old today! Your dad and I love you so much and we’re so glad that you are here. To your dad and me you seem so big already! No longer do you fit into newborn clothes – you are already wearing 3 month PJs. Seems like you might be a tall, tall girl!

Your favorite thing to do right now is to ride around in the Baby Bjorn close to somebody’s chest. Your dad has been taking you on early morning walks around the neighborhood while I get some rest because you seem to be a night owl. Your big blue eyes are like headlights during the 2 o’clock hour.

You also love to spend time looking out the window on your changing table, taking baths, riding in your swing and being outside next to the pond. Sometimes when you are fussy we take you into the bathroom and run the bath water, rushing water always calms you down. I hope this means that you’ll love being in the water as  much as your dad and I do. I can’t wait to kick, kick, kick in the pool and ocean with you!

All of your grandparents come and visit often. I don’t think they can get enough of you – they all want to hold you close and tell you how much they love you. Both Grammy and Nana have spent the whole night holding you while you either looked around or snoozed.

Eddie Vedder’s voice and Jewel’s Lullaby album soothe you. When we read books you really don’t like “There Was an Old Lady That Swallowed a Fly” but love “Goodnight Moon.” We’ll keep reading and singing, eventually you can join in.

Sometimes you flash us your dimples, but right now your eyes are filled with wonder and consume your face as you look around. Again, we’re so glad you are here.

You are so loved.

Return of the Cowboy Grandpa

Grandpa Flip has taken to wearing a cowboy hat around Maggie to make sure that when she looks at her cowboy quilt, she thinks of him.
He has also taken to working with Maggie to slow down and smell the roses.
Because it is the small things in life that can bring you joy. Cowboy hats and roses in today's case.
