If You’ve Ever Loved a Dog
We have some friends that are getting their first dog today and last night I couldn’t help but think of how great their lives are going to be with the added love of a dog. Barry and I both grew up with dogs and we both have memories of our first dogs from childhood. We had Sydney for a few years before we had kids, and we say that she’s our firstborn….and that really isn’t too much of a stretch. She’s an essential member of our family and helps us all keep rhythm as life hums along.
My dad said it perfectly a while back when he shared that he thinks that EVERYONE should get to know a Pug sometime in life. It’s so true. A couple days ago, a friend shared with me this stunning portrait session and pictures with a girl who was getting ready to say goodbye to her dog that she’s had since she was 7. Read it HERE. If you’ve ever had a dog in your life that you’ve loved as much as it loves you, this story will move you.
And with that, here are pictures from the first time that Sydney met Maggie….four and a half years ago.
Duck Pond and Barn Play
There is a small duck pond near our house and it’s a quick, swift walk on a road that has more traffic than I’d like., but once we’re there it is worth it. There’s a trail that winds around the pond and a gate that leads to a field with a big, red barn. I love this barn because it makes me feel like we don’t live so close to the city or that maybe we live near a farm. Anyhow, we’ve gone a few times recently to feed the ducks and walk the short trail. Sydney can be off leash and the girls can roam. It sure beats getting in the car.
