Back to Life, Back to Reality

Home. I’m not sure what time our bodies think it is or if the sand will ever get out of our clothes, but we’re home!!! Maggie was a TOTAL rock star on the airplane, but you probably already knew that.

Hard to believe that we were lounging under the Clacking Palm Trees just hours ago and taking our final dip in the warm waters of Hawaii. It does feel good to be home. Maggie and I took Syd on a long walk this morning around the neighborhood, we’ve rediscovered the pile of toys that we left here, and read a few of our favorite books.

In the back of my head I keep wondering where everybody went and when we’re going to the beach. Then reality hits….Sydney’s snores make me almost as happy as the sound of the crashing waves though.

Almost.

Well, We Tried

We bought a bike trailer the other day and thought that tonight would be a perfect time to use it – since we needed (yes, needed) to restock our freezer with some delicious ice cream.

We loaded Sydney and Maggie into the trailer and hit the road; however, we weren’t but five blocks down the road and we heard yelling and whimpering. Apparently, it is a bit early for these two to be in a small, moving cage together.

Don’t worry, Barry turned back and took the Hooligans home and I kept on truckin’ to the store so we could finish out our Snack Sunday in proper form.

Maggie & Sydney

When we brought Maggie home, Sydney didn’t seem to mind. Over the past few months Sydney has stayed pretty close to Maggie and watched our every move. When we’re walking around the house with Maggie, Syd follows us around and will settle when we’ve settled.

This month the game seems to have changed.

At first it was the same-old-same-old, Maggie and Syd passively liked one another.

Then, one day we woke up and Maggie had fallen in LOVE with the Tubby Torpedo.

Unfortunately for Syd, this means that her rolls have suddenly become fair-game to be pinched and grabbed on.

If Syd just walks into the room, Maggie is sure to squeal in utter delight.  It is really quite hilarious.

Syd, however, does not wag her tail in delight if Maggie comes close. Instead, she positions herself at a safe distance away. This is fine and dandy now, but just wait until Maggie gets her wheels.
