Adios Tiger

tiger

There was a time when Tiger was new, fresh, soft and even smelled good. Tiger is no longer new, he feels crusty and smells like a dog has been licking him for years.

tiger body

His body is still in pretty good shape with most of the fir intact, maybe missing some spots here and there.

tiger side

Why he’s been licked so much under his left armpit, I’ll never, ever know. Maybe the fur was better there or maybe Sydney is left-pawed and it was easier to hold Tiger down that way. The right side looks untouched.

tiger head

The head is decidedly untouched. Poor Tiger, his head has been mangled and destroyed to the point of no longer even looking like the cute, round head we remember from before Sydney and him became friends 2 years ago.

Eyeballs: gone. Ears: warped. Nose: disgustingly slobbery. Fur: buzz licked down the middle of head.

turtle I think it is time for Turtle to step up and take over because there is only so much a tiny tiger can take.

Baked Potato

baked potato

My family has a billion nicknames for Sydney, but most recently my brothers and sister-in-law have become obsessed with comparing her to a baked potato. Izak really wants her to dress up as one for Halloween. He keeps saying that we could wrap her in foil and sprinkle some chives on top and be done!  A couple days ago I checked my e-mail and Geneviève had sent me this picture she’d come across on the internet.  Oi.

Zzzzzzzz

Sydney

Brian, Barry’s brother, has been staying with us for the past couple weeks and it has been really nice having him around. Sydney seems especially excited about having him here.

sydney

Typically Sydney sleeps with us and wedges herself in the center of our bed. We’ve gotten used to this behavior and on some strange level welcome it.

The other night I was up taking care of my ‘midnight business’ and when I climbed back in bed I noticed that we were down a chubby little dog. At first I had a semi-freak out wondering where she was, but then I remembered that the previous morning Sydney had belly flopped onto Brian’s bed and made herself welcome.

yawn

Turns out that Sydney barged into Brian’s room in the middle of the night and started snoozing Superman style next to Brian. According to Brian, at one point he was awakened by loud snoring and wondered where it was coming from.

After a moment he realized that the rumbling was coming from our 19.6 lb dog that was stretched out in the middle of  his bed.
