Audrey Bell: Day Nine

audrey bell six months-2

Single parenting is not for the weary. Barry went on his annual dude-hike with some of his friends and I was at home with our little chickens. We had a splendid weekend, but I was thankful to see Barry step through the door this evening. He fell asleep while reading to Maggie, so I haven’t even had a chance to touch-base with him. I got to put Audrey to sleep tonight twice, without trying to respond to Maggie or Sydney’s needs. While I held her in my arms the first time she dozed off, she started laughing to herself about something that she’d been dreaming about. She’s always been such a vivid dreamer, I think. She must have only been a few weeks old when we went to visit my mom and dad and she took a four hour nap in my dad’s arms – he didn’t put her down the entire time – and he claimed that she was responding to her dreams even then. Tonight, as she laughed in my arms, her little dimple kept showing up as the smile stretched across her lips and into her cheeks. I have no way of proving it, but I’d guess that she was dreaming about playing Peek-a-Boo with Maggie.
