Today was the last day of Maggie’s gymnastics class, which happens to be next to the library. This is the first time that Maggie has taken a class where she’s on her own, with parents observing through the window or from the doorway. It has become very obvious that Maggie enjoys the independence that gymnastics allows her. For the past few weeks, I’ll go on and walk up and down the hills nearby while Audrey naps in the Ergo. Until today, the weather has been nice and walking seemed like a good thing to do while Audrey napped and Maggie honed her gymnastic skills. Today the weather was cloudy, Audrey wasn’t interested in napping, and I wanted to watch the last gymnastics class. Maggie flashed me the evil eye a couple times – wanting to ‘do it herself’ so Audrey and I walked over to the library for a bit. We spent a few minutes in the Children’s Section, but it got a bit awkward because Audrey kept screaming (happy, happy screams!) at the top of her lungs. The first 9 times it was cute/funny, but by the 10th time, the guy trying to study was doing sideways glances. I took Audrey back to gymnastics, where she promptly screamed even louder when she saw Maggie.
