We’ve been getting lots of different advice now that we’re expectant parents. One thing that has been consistent has been people telling us to sleep now because you won’t get to once the baby arrives.
I understand the sentiment because babies have their own schedules, new parents are nervous, midnight feedings, the list goes on and on. Here’s my concern:
We’ve got a dog that snores as if she’s a 350 pound man. She also takes up no less than 1/3 of the bed. Our dog is already taking away from our sleep and she doesn’t even need us to hold her or feed her in the midnight hours.
What to do?
Don’t listen to people and their wacky advice. Of course you can’t save up sleep like rollover minutes. There are two of you and you help eachother. Sometimes you will be tired….but I assume there are moments already when you both find yourself attracted to a nap. BUT, there is a method of teaching young ones to sleep soundly at night and you will find yourself sleeping through the night quite quickly. No worries 🙂 Carter, at almost 18 months, slept through half a baby shower in a little house this past weekend. 25 roaring women all chattering with excitement over my cousin’s belly. Little hb will sleep through anything, ESPECIALLY in the beginning!!!!!!!!!!
Fortunately Rem doesn’t snore, but it is odd that the littlest dogs turn into great danes when they sleep on your bed. Preparing for Baby Tila we’ve gotten Remy her own bed and made her start to take shifts in it. She doesn’t always stay there, but we want her to get used to it so she doesn’t associate her sleeping in her own bed with baby arriving so she doesn’t get jealous when Baby is in the bed and she isn’t.
Cheyenne,
I like your idea of getting Sydney used to sleeping in her own bed. I’ll give that a try with one of her 19 beds that seem to be placed around the house. One of them has to be at least similar to smashing into ours right?
Of bigger concern to me though is that you are holding out on Baby Tila’s name. I thought it was officially decided that you were going with Theodore…
