Cute as a Button

It seems like we get the Skagit Valley Itch every couple weeks and need to head North to see our family and friends that live up there. My parents got a new dog, Tagert, and it was necessary that Sydney gave her blessing before he became too much a part of the Camp Janet Crew. Luckily, she was able to give her seal of approval.

Midge and Mac ended up coming out and we took a walk around the property…WHAT BEAUTIFUL COLORS!!! I love my grandma Lowman for about a zillion different reasons, but one of the reasons that I love and adore her is that she dresses like me…or rather, I dress like her. We are both always FREEZING, so bundling is a MUST.

When I hop into her hot rod, she’s always got it toasty and she even shares the heat with me. When I ride with My Man, I have to keep his internal thermometer in mind. I usually can take the hint from him that it is too hot when he rolls down the window and starts peeling off clothes.

Anyhow, Midge and Mac came to visit and we trotted up, down &all around.  Eventually we ended up in the neighbor’s field to watch Barry demonstrate his baseball skills. I too tried to show that I’ve got an arm that can throw….I promptly threw the ball in the middle of the ‘no-throw-danger-grass’ zone. Of course, right?

I think Midge got warmed up laughing at the dogs sprinting and my dog thinking that she was part of the game. Who knew a pug could run so much?

Geeked Out

Okay, I bought a blog book.

Fine, I’ll admit I’ve had my nose in it since I got it….just don’t ask me to put it down.

It is written by Courtney Kendrick and I bought the fancy book form. Yes, it was more spendy, but now I have a super fancy book to add to my collection. The primary focus of the book is not what is currently happening in her life (caring for her sister’s children), but more her struggle with infertility and funny anecdotes about her friends and family.

It all started this summer when I decided to become BRIDEZILLA for a few months. There is a long convoluted story behind what led me to this precious book….one that involves Mormons, blogs and weddings. I touched on it a bit here, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. I have been SO touched by this woman’s writing. I have been inspired by what she has faced as a sister, daughter, aunt, wife, mother, and blogger since August.

Enough blogging, I’ve got to get back to my blog book. Want to borrow it when I’m done?

On second thought, get your own, I’m not ready to share.

I am Supposed to be the Geek

Typically, I’m the undisputed geek in this relationship. I tinker with the iPhone relentlessly, and excitedly talk about home automation techniques.

Hannah usually patiently listens, but I can tell it wouldn’t hurt her feelings if the subject changed to something more interesting. Like what the wind is doing. Alright maybe not the wind, but pretty much anything else. At least this is what I thought until I discovered that Hannah has purchased a “greatest hits” version of blog posts. Not a collection of posts from all over the web, but a collection of posts from one specific blog.

Now maybe this doesn’t exactly make her a super geek, but it definitely bumps up her geek factor a couple of notches.

When asked about about the purchase Hannah replied simply, “It’s my favorite blog”.
