~HB ADVENTURE~

A year ago we were living in our super tiny house and we never really had an opportunity to have people over. For the past few years we have even had Halloween parties at my Grandma and Grandpa’s house. This weekend we really used our new space and had both of our families down.

On Friday Barry’s family came down to BBQ (with the fantastic grill they gifted us!!). I forced them to sit though the ‘wedding mix’ of songs that we’re thinking of using during the ceremony. As our families both had different schedules, my family came down the the next day. Sydney FINALLY had ample opportunity to sun herself. She loves the sun and at any given moment will be on the patio basking in the warmth. Hilarious. We made margaritas from scratch and had delicious strawberries from Sakuma Brother’s farm in Skagit County. Yum.

It seems like our families came with their arms full of things for us. My dad gave us a HUGE rock as a housewarming gift a month or so ago, he has a passion for heavy things. Not to be outdone my grandpa brought us a housewarming gift that has special meaning as well. My grandpa loves, loves, loves eagles and collects them. When Phil and I were little we would try to count all the eagles at my grandparent’s house….just to give you an idea they are above each doorway, in pictures around the house, outside their house…EVERYWHERE! My grandpa has gifted us with our very own eagle from his collection. I feel blessed to have my own eagle. I think one is enough, though.

All in all, it was a wonderful way to spend the weekend. Frisbees on the roof, wrestling dogs, chatting family, snoozing grandparents, music blaring, hot dogs, salmon, fruit, and loads of laughs….summer might finally be here!!! Wahooo!!!

I should be working on report cards. I’m dreaming about Hawaii instead. Is that bad? I can’t believe that it is the end of the year!! This weather has me wondering if i should get some type of rain coat to match my wedding dress. My students and I keep track of the weather each day and for the record, cloudy and rainy are winning….booo!!!! We’re heading off to the zoo tomorrow with another field trip on Monday. For the sake of a bunch of 6 and 7 year olds, can I get a little bit of sunshine, please???? It wasn’t even nice enough to slurp on Otter Pops today after Field Day. Enough with the rain & cold weather. Enough, I say.
