For a long time Maggie wanted to be a unicorn, but we weren’t able to find a unicorn costume that seemed right. Her second choice was Mary Poppins and I’m thinking it is one of the best second choices she’s ever made. We pieced together the clothes from thrift stores, Nicole had the hat, and my mom made the most perfect carpet bag EVER. Audrey’s costume is an old one that was Caroline’s when she was little and it’s fitting because Audrey’s owl noise is as hilarious as it is cute.
For me, Halloween came at a perfect time this year. We’ve had a rough patch in my family the last couple days with the loss of Sparky, my mom and dad’s peppy dog. But Mags has already had quite a few chances to wear her costume (ballet, school, visiting the Elvrum/Glass compound, etc.) and it is quite charming to see how people light up when they see her. I’m so proud that she is something unique, different and fun. And she totally owns it. Audrey isn’t as thrilled to wear her costume, but she’s discovering that people (my grandpa) give her treats when she’s wearing it…..so, she’s coming around. Both girls are such little bright spots in so many people’s lives.
These girls are just such GOOD MEDICINE always for all of us ALL the time. Maggie told me that BIG kiss I gave her was wiped into her heart. Thankfully!!!Happy Halloween. Maybe I will dress up like Pippi Longstocking and Flip can wear the BOX from the hot water heater . …37 years ago HaHA
I saw a unicorn costume on tv earlier today. It was handmade. The girl had on a white shirt, white leggings, white wings worn like a backpack, and had a headband on with ears and a horn that somehow came more forward on her head then the ears. She was all in white. It was nicely done. Didn’t know unicorns are back. I am a bit more partial to Mary Poppins myself. All she needs is some small white gloves. Creatively sweet!
They are so cute!! If the girls feel like dressing up again, they can come trick or treating in woodinville anytime 🙂
