It isn’t a secret that we love a good weekend vacation within a two hour drive of our home. I think all the mini trips we do somehow make up for the fact that we haven’t really done many/any ‘big’ trips in what feels like a long, long time. Packing up for a trip and setting out on the road fills me with such a sense of adventure and excitement and I’m lucky that both Barry and I share this interest. My mom and dad are very similar in this mindset and at Christmas we’d given them a gift certificate to stay at some small beach cabins that we’d stayed and loved.
April rolled around and my dad’s 60th birthday fell two days before Maggie’s 5th, and we started to talk about piggybacking onto their beach cabin stay and renting the hundred-year farmhouse on the same property. All of us fit into this house and enjoyed the stay for two nights. The weather was beautiful, the beach close, and the food plenty. The property that we stayed on was expansive and we were encouraged by the owners to roam around, which we did and the swing-set saw us more often than not.
What follows are the pictures from our weekend together and I love each of then. But I noticed that I’m not in a single one. Damn. I need to get better at passing the camera and letting go of the self-serving guilt that comes with wanting to get an appropriate picture (meaning we’re in focus).
