Little & Big Red

We went surfing yesterday. Okay, to be more specific, Barry went surfing and I found myself in the foam gasping for air wondering how many more years my wetsuit (Little Red) had lived before I came around.

When we first arrived I thought I wouldn’t have to practice my skills, as we couldn’t find my papa and he had all my gear. Thankfully, we found him and I was lucky enough to cover myself from head-to-toe in patched together boyant gear.

I thought I was being kind of tough, going out in the water and all….of course I had to make a big deal about strapping myself onto the boogie board. Our friends Adam and Alyssa were already out there riding waves that only looked bigger and bigger as I paddled out.

Barry, Flip and Adam are of the school that waiting for a big wave is the best way to go. I, on the other hand, decided that my time would best be spent using all my energy and time kicking, kicking, kicking…..and kicking only to be pummeled by a wave that seemed tiny from the parking lot. My sweet husband decided that he could take over my White Thunder (that’s what it says) boogie board and I should try his surf board. All I can say is: wet suit from the year 1972 + surf board wax + me = ROLLING BALL in water.

After floating around for a while longer, I decided that sipping on delicious hot chocolate (thanks for the thermos, Fidge) and watching the true surfers would be a perfect way to end the day. What I didn’t account for was trying to get out of my wetsuit….Oh, Little Red. Thankfully, I am not the only one with this problem
